Corsica

Take off from Switzerland, enjoy the breathtaking views over the Alps, look down on Piedmont and Italy's lowlands to overfly the Mediterranean. For half an hour we will be heading into the deep blue: ocean and sky merge on the horizon. Then, slowly, the island of Corsica materializes in the mist and as we approach our destination, beautiful beaches appear below.

We land at Calvi, Bastia, or Ajaccio, pass customs and head for the rental car that will take us to beautiful beaches and the mountains of Corsica. It is this contrast that makes the island so unique. In spring and fall you can see snow-capped mountains in the distance while bathing the warm waters. The mix of French and Italian cultural influences make the people and their customs interesting to observe.

We'll visit local markets with delicacies like Brebiu - a typical local cheese. For dinner, we'll head to pittoresque St. Florent or Īle Rousseau, where we'll enjoy specialities from the region.

Corsica is an excellent three to four day weekend destination that leaves you with the impression that you've been on a holiday after just a few days.
